There are new opportunities for scholars, experts say
About 800 pages of the earliest surviving Christian Bible have been recovered and put on the internet.

Visitors to the website www.codexsinaiticus.org can now see images of more than half the 1,600-year-old Codex Sinaiticus manuscript.

Fragments of the 4th Century document - written in Greek on parchment leaves - have been worked on by institutions in the UK, Germany, Egypt and Russia.

Experts say it is "a window into the development of early Christianity".

Preservation secrets

Dr Scot McKendrick, head of Western manuscripts at the British Library, said the wide availability of the document presented many research opportunities.

What's missing from the Codex Sinaiticus?
"The Codex Sinaiticus is one of the world's greatest written treasures," he said.

"This 1,600-year-old manuscript offers a window into the development of early Christianity and first-hand evidence of how the text of the Bible was transmitted from generation to generation.

"The availability of the virtual manuscript for study by scholars around the world creates opportunities for collaborative research that would not have been possible just a few years ago."

The original version contained about 1,460 pages - each measuring 40cm by 35cm, he added.

The British Library is marking the online launch of the manuscript with an exhibition - which includes a range of historic items and artefacts linked to the document.

For 1,500 years, the Codex Sinaiticus lay undisturbed in a Sinai monastery until it was found in 1844 and split between Egypt, Russia, Germany and Britain.

It is thought to have survived because the desert air was ideal for preservation and because the monastery, on a Christian island in a Muslim sea, remained untouched, its walls unconquered.

The institutions' painstaking work can now be seen at www.codexsinaiticus.org.

DIVINE ORDINANCE OF THE WIND by Rev. Babatunde Ezekiel Ajibola

Not many readers of the bible would have noticed the fact that there are specific divine attributes tied to the designation of the east and west wind. The authority of God is seen in creation especially in the ways He uses and manipulates the elements of creation even, including man.
“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb. I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;” Is.44:24
There is no doubt that every authority belongs to God and that all that He made are for His pleasure. He commands and it stands. He called everything by their numbers and they obey His command and act according to His pleasure. It is also written that He made His messengers spirit and fire hence He asked Job these questions;
“Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? Canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?
Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundant of waters may cover thee?
Canst thou send lightening, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?” Job 39:33-35
To all these questions Job answered, “I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.” Job 42:2
By the authority by which He made all things He is always able to assign them for a specific function and when He calls them by their names, they hear Him and they go ahead to fulfil His pleasure and bring to fulfilment His purpose.
In line with these principles in God’s ordinances in creation we can notice in what manner God has designated the different location of the earth to be the custodian of winds that reflects the positive and the negative role in the fulfilment of God’s purpose.
From the account of the bible, when the east wind blows it has negative impact or it sometimes manifest the powerful arm of God to manifest His purpose in a situation. The west wind blows it brings to an end a negative impact of the east wind or bring about a positive change to manifest the shedding of divine grace and mercy.
In the time of Noah’s flood it was reported that with the blowing of the wind the waters began to decrease. “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged: Gen.8:1
It is mentioned here if this wind was west or east Wind but from the biblical trends of the role of the west and east wind, the wind that God made to pass over the waters is very much likely to be the west ind. You will agree with me logically as you read along.
When Pharaoh refused to allow the Israelites depart from Egypt, God used the east wind to bring locust upon Egypt. “And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.”Ex.10:13
After Pharaoh pleaded for the locust to be taken away, God sent a west wind that blew the locust away.
“And the Lord turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locust, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.”Ex.10:19
In Exodus 14:21 God sent the East wind to separate the red sea. “And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.”
The purpose of this miracle even though made a way for the Israelites to escape the wrath of Pharaoh, the primary aim of the east wind coming to play was to manifest the powerful arm of God in battle and to bring an end to the Egyptians pursuit of the Israelites. Where ever the east wind is assigned a disaster manifest. The Egyptians all died in the red sea while the Israelites escaped to the other side.
In Num. 11:31 God responded to the protest of the Israelites who were no more delighted in manna as their only source of sustenance in the wilderness. The wind brought quails in excess and the Israelites ate to their satisfaction but died in great numbers. Though it was not mentioned if it was the east wind that brought the quails, it can logically be deduced that it was the east wind that was in action.
In two instances in the bible, it is recorded how ship heading to Tarshish was broken. In the book of 2Chronicle 20:37, the king of Judah Jehoshaphat and the king of Israel, Ahaziah both built a ship to go to Tarshish. The ship was broken because God was against the venture because Ahaziah was evil in the sight of the LORD. We are only told that the ship was broken but we do not know how.
Also in the book of Jonah, the ship in which Jonah was running away from the presence of the Lord to go to Tarshish was said to be about to be broken by the wind but we are not told if it was the east or west wind that God used to trouble the ship. Jonah 1:3-4
However, in Psalm 48:7 there seems to be the clue as to what was used to break the ship of Tarshish “Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.”
In the vision given to prophet Ezekiel, the dry bones in the valley by the miracle of the wind received life.
“Then said he unto me, prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.”Ezek.37:9
This time around the wind came from all sides, north, south, east and west because the assignment for this occasion was peculiar and it involves giving life back to dead bones. It was an assignment that needed to bring about perfection and God invoked every facet of the elements that empowers the wind in its divine functions.
Finally in the prophecy of prophet Hosea it reads, “Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.”Hos.13:15
The storm of life could blow against us negatively but the ultimate authority which is in the east and the west wind of God benevolence and goodness will always blow against such storms and they shall be still. Greater still the combine anointed wind of the Lord from all sides shall come and perfect life in us.

WEAPON OF WAR SHALL PERISH: Rev. Babatunde E. Ajibola

In the book of Ecclesiastes 9:11, it is written that the race is not for the swift, nor the battle to the strong. In Ps.i27:1-2, it is also written that except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: and except the Lord keep the city. the watchman wake watching in vain.
It is being reported that North Korea has conducted yet another nuclear test which is said to be more powerful than the one it carried out in 2006. The move which has continuously motivate great concern among nations is seen as a threat to world peace.
North Korea like every other nations of the world is presumably trying to make her position known as to how much she is feeling concern for her own safety and to join in the nuclear race so as to earn respect respect among nations and to feel secured within her territory. This is the mentality of all nations of the world and there seems to be a tint of hypocracy in the manner in which the so called powerful nations of the world are reacting against North Korea adamancy. It is not to say that I am in support of what North Korea is up to. I am not in support of the other nations of the world that have stockpiled weapons of war and at the same time want other nations of te world not to follow suite.
Japan has condemned North Korea, in like manner Obama and Gordon Brown of Britain has joined their voice in condemning North Korea. I wish to say tht there is no nation of the world that should have the exclusive right to stockpile weapons of war as the entire peace loving community of the world are calling for peace. We should know for sure that one day there shall always be a falling and the weapon of war shall always perish.
It is not enough to condemn North Korea but that every Nation of the world should shed the ambition to join the list of powerful nations in order to bully one another and to flex muscles.
The nations of the world should start to learn to say; "Some trust in chariots and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand up right."Ps.20:7-8
The name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous nations shall run into it and feel safe.
It is not enough for nations to sit wit one another to sign treaty of peace and agreement to dismantle the weapon of war only to go back and solidify their arsenal of weapons of war.
To the nations it will be appropriate to say as Paul writes in the book of Romans 3:9-18 "What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
As it is written, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO NOT ONE:
THERE IS NONE THAT UNDERSTANDETH, THERE IS NONE SEEKETH AFTER GOD.
THEY HAVE ALL GONE OUT OF THE WAY, THEY ARE TOGETHER BECOME UNPROFITABLE; THERE IS NONE THAT DOETH GOOD, NO, NOT ONE.
THEIR THROAT IS AN OPENSEPULCHRE; WITH THEIR TOGUES THEY HAVE USED DECEIT; THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS:
WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS:
THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD:

For these reasons the Lord God the creator of heaven and earth and that knows the spirit of man that is in him will take over the kingdom of this world and give it to the Son and His Saints that He may rule the people and break all the imagery of idols with the iron rod. His kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom of peace and everything both in heaven and earth shall be under His footstool.
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Councellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to other it, and to establish it with judgement and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORDOF HOSTS WILL PERFORM THIS."Is.9:6-7

SEOUL, South Korea – Embattled former President Roh Moo-hyun — a reformist shamed by a corruption scandal that tarnished his image as a "clean" politician — jumped to his death while hiking in the mountains behind his rural home in southern South Korea, his lawyer said. He was 62.

Roh was hiking in the village of Bongha when he threw himself off a steep cliff around 6:40 a.m. Saturday (2340 GMT Friday), lawyer Moon Jae-in told reporters in the city of Busan. In a suicide note left for his family, Roh said life was "difficult" and apologized for making "too many people suffer," a TV report said.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead from a head injury around 9:30 a.m. (0030 GMT), Busan National University Hospital said.

The apparent suicide — the first by a modern South Korean leader — shocked the nation. South Koreans huddled around TV screens at Seoul's main train station and elsewhere watching broadcasts of the news.

"I was utterly shocked," said Chun Soon-im, 63, of Seoul. "They say 'hate the sin but not the sinner,' and that's how I feel. The investigation must continue and we must get to the truth, but I cannot help feeling sorry for the man and those left behind."

Roh, a self-taught former human rights lawyer who lifted himself out of poverty to reach the nation's highest office, prided himself on his clean record in a country with a long history of corruption. He served as president from 2003 to 2008.

But he and his family have been ensnared in recent weeks in a burgeoning bribery scandal.

Last month, state prosecutors questioned Roh for some 13 hours about allegations that he accepted more than $6 million in bribes from a South Korean businessman while in office — accusations that deeply shamed him.

"I have no face to show to the people. I am sorry for disappointing you," an emotional Roh said April 30 before speaking to prosecutors.

He denied the allegations against him during questioning, prosecution spokesman Cho Eun-sok said.

Roh had acknowledged that local shoe manufacturer Park Yeon-cha gave his wife $1 million, but suggested it was not a bribe. He also said he was aware Park gave $5 million to another relative but said he thought it was an investment. Prosecutors suspect the $6 million was eventually conveyed to Roh.

Several of Roh's former aides and associates have also been investigated on suspicion of taking money from Park, who was indicted in December on separate bribery and tax evasion charges. Roh's elder brother was sentenced last week to four years in prison in a separate bribery scandal.

Justice Minister Kim Kyung-han, expressing "surprise and grief," said in a statement that the monthslong investigation of Roh would be closed.

President Lee Myung-bak called Roh's death "sad and tragic," and said it was "truly hard to believe," presidential spokesman Lee Dong-kwan said.

Benita Ferrero-Waldner, external relations commissioner for the European Union, said an EU delegation was entering the presidential Blue House for a summit with Lee when they heard the "very sad news."

Roh — who after leaving office moved back to his hometown of Gimhae, some 280 miles (450 kilometers) south of Seoul — had gone for an early walk in the mountains behind his house. He was accompanied by a security guard, Busan police said.

Partway up, Roh hurled himself off a steep cliff known as Owl's Rock about 400 feet (100 meters) high, the Yonhap news agency said. Police said they were still investigating the circumstances of Roh's death.

His lawyer confirmed that Roh left a "brief" suicide note for his family. Investigators have not seen the note, a Busan police official said. He did not give his name, citing department policy.

MBC television reported that Roh's note said he wanted to be cremated and a small gravestone erected in his neighborhood.

His death by apparent suicide was a tragic end for a man who was the son of farmers and never attended college, but managed to pass the bar exam in 1975 by teaching himself law.

Roh built a reputation as a lawyer defending students accused of sedition under South Korea's previous military-backed administrations. He was once arrested and his law license suspended for supporting an outlawed labor protest.

His political career began with his election as a liberal lawmaker to the National Assembly in 1988.

His ascension to the presidency came after a surprise 2002 election win on a campaign pledge not to "kowtow" to the United States, a pledge that resonated with young voters.

He maintained predecessor President Kim Dae-jung's "sunshine policy" of offering North Korea aid as way to facilitate reconciliation, holding a summit in Pyongyang with North Korean leader Kim Jong Il in 2007, the second such meeting between leaders of the two countries that technically remain at war.

Though criticized as standoffish and divisive by some, he was praised by others as a candid leader who showed concern for the underprivileged and fought against corruption. Roh was the first South Korean president with an Internet-based fan club.

But in 2004, Roh called on the public to vote for candidates from his Uri Party — a violation of political neutrality laws. The move prompted lawmakers to vote for his impeachment, making him the first South Korean president to be impeached. He was reinstated following a two-month suspension after a court ruled against the impeachment.

"He shocked us twice — first, by betraying our trust in him as the keeper of justice when it was revealed that he'd received the illegitimate money. Now, in showing that he was not even responsible enough to face the consequences of his action," said Kim Hye-jung, 35, of Seoul. "As a supporter of the values he stood for, I feel greatly let down."

Roh is survived by his wife, Kwon Yang-sook, and two children. Funeral arrangements were not immediately available.

THE LAST SUPPER ROOM

THE LAST SUPPER ROOM IN A WHITE STONE BUILDING ON MOUNT ZION

IT IS held to be the site of a seminal moment in history, the Last Supper. Today, however, the arched room in a white stone building on Mount Zion symbolises a festering dispute between Israel and the Vatican, which threatens to become a thorn in the side of Pope Benedict XVI's impending "peace pilgrimage" to the Holy Land.
Vatican officials had hoped the Pontiff's visit next week – only the second trip made by a pope to the Jewish state – would soften Israel's position over the Last Supper room.

The Vatican insists the room belongs to the Church and must be "returned", because Franciscans controlled it from 1342-1551, when the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent expelled them.

"We have a strong connection to the place, it was ours," said the Vatican's Custodian for the Holy Land, Father Pierre Batista- Pizzaballa. "The Eucharist, the unity of the Church, the Pentecost and the priesthood, all these important things for the Latin Church, come from here."

However, Israel is refusing to transfer ownership despite Vatican claims the Cenacle, as it is known, where the Pope is scheduled to pray on Tuesday, is the second holiest place for Christianity after the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, also in Jerusalem and traditionally held to be the site of Jesus's burial.

The Kirk's spiritual leader in the Holy Land, reverend George Shand of Jerusalem's St Andrews Church, says that the Last Supper room's vicinity "has Jewish, Muslim and Christian ties. It represents the history of this area in so many different ways. It shouldn't belong to anyone. It should belong to all."

The Palestinian Authority would not object to the site being returned to the Vatican, and says it hopes this would serve as a precedent for the restoration of Palestinian sites lost to Israel.

Some believe the reason for Israel's reluctance to relinquish control of the room is that it wants a campaign to get more Catholic visitors to Israel. Stas Misezhnikov, the tourism minister, said it would be a mistake to hand over the Last Supper site to the Vatican without a significant reward. "If we were certain that this great gift to the Christian world would bring us millions of Christian tourists we might think about it," he said on Monday. He added that the Pope is "a very desired guest" but that "we won't transfer it just because the Pope is coming. We won't do anything in a hurried fashion."

ROOM FOR MANY FAITHS

PEOPLE of different faiths, including Greek Orthodox Christians and Muslims, have laid claim to the Last Supper Room as part of their belief system.

There is a Muslim prayer niche and an Arabic inscription on one window, reflecting its four centuries of use as a mosque – Muslim services stopped in 1948 when its worshippers became refugees at Israel's creation. Jews claim what they say is the tomb of King David in another part of the building.

When the Vatican and Israel established diplomatic relations in 1993, a joint commission was set up to look at such issues, but the two sides have been unable to produce an agreement. The room's fate is due to be discussed again in December.

MESSIANIC JEWS MAKING A CASE

Three Brits have filed a petition with the Israel High Court of Justice. Their grievance? They’re Messianic Jews who say they have been denied citizenship because they are being religiously profiled as missionaries.

Messianics accept Jesus—or Yeshua—as the Messiah but also, in varying degrees, observe Jewish rituals. They’ve caused an uproar in Israel before. Last year religious Zionist rabbis called for a boycott of the Bible Quiz after they learned that one of the four finalists was a Messianic Jew. Weeks before that, 12 Messianics won a big Supreme Court decision when the high court ruled that they had the right of return.

The right of return is held by any person who has at least one Jewish grandparent. And these three Brits do. Here’s the story from YNet:

They claim they have appealed to the Interior Ministry a number of times but were rejected because they are Messianic Jews. They say the ministry sees members of their faith as missionaries and has denied their appeals for this reason.

The three say they have done nothing to warrant a denial of citizenship that is theirs by law and that they are Zionists who want to make Israel their home.

The petitioners claim the Interior Ministry is behaving in a discriminatory manner and persecuting them for their beliefs. The State’s response has not yet been filed.

THE MYSTERIES OF THE CLOUD: Rev Babatunde Ezekiel Ajibola

When we mention the word 'Cloud' it is an interesting phenomenon that triggers the immagination of every individual from their different emotional perspective of what the 'Cloud' that we all see in the sky mean to them. To kids the cloud in the sky could always appear mysterious because of the way they manourver across the sky. At sunset the reflection of the sun in the horizon is often a spectacular scenery of beautiful cloudy lamp in the sky that anyone would wish should remain in the sky permanently to illuminate the sky.

Cloud sometimes announced the advent of rain shower which is often accompanied by cool wind that brings serenity into the atmosphere. To the weather man or woman it is an everyday vocabulary. "It will be partly cloudy and we should be expecting some rain shower in the morning." We hear such statement like this every day on our television and radio broadcast.

To the Pilot and Flight Crews in airlines and those that travel constantly by air, going through layers of clouds in the sky is a daily routine that probably make them become used to the phenomenon known as cloud. Looking through the window of the aeroplane could bring any one travelling by air closer to this wonderful phenomenon . What is the mystery of the Cloud? we might ask. In creation as recorded in the bible the word cloud was mentioned by God for the first time in Gen:9:12-17 in a very significant occasion. "And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between you and me and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations.

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud."

After this, the word was mentioned not less than one hundred and sixty seven locations in the bible and all these instances are tied to the mysteries of God in creation. In delivering the Israelites from Egypt, God used the cloud as an instrument of deliverance. "And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them, and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them.

And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night." Ex.14:19-20

In another mysterious incident as recorded in Mk.9:7. "And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him."

Also in Rev.10:1 an angel was seen with cloud around Him. "And I saw a mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head and his face was as it were the sun, as his feet as pillars of fire.

Furthermore in revealing the events of the last days it is recorded in Rev.14:14 as to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ coming on a white cloud to harvest the world. "And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and on his hand a sharp sickle.

And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

And he that that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped."

Also in the book of Daniel 7:13-14 Christ referred to as the Son of man came in the cloud and received the authority of the kingdom from God. "I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed."

There is something mysterious about the Cloud. We know that geaography reveals that rain came about as a result of precitipation that takes place in the cloud at a high altitude of the firmament. There seems to be four agents of nature that collaborate with the cloud to make it manifest its admirable qualities that attracts man's attention in creation. These agents are, light, the wind and water. If the cloud then is to be seen as means of transportation and communication both in the physical and in the spiritual. The water is the source of energy, the wind propells while light illuminates.

If man had not rejected God's source of acquisition of knowledge to enroll in satanic school from where man continuously acqire the knowledge of the good and evil, we probably would have acquired the righteousness of God by which we should have by now know how to convert the numerous advantages that exists in the usage of the clouds as means of transportation, communication and energy without possing threat to the enviroment as we have now. What do you think. We need to stop polluting the earth. The cloud can form the bedrock of new approach to satellite technology.

FLYING WITHOUT WINGS

I have been away now for two months and on a busy schedule hence I have not been able to make new posting on this blog. However I am delighted to be back and to acquint my readers with what I have been up to. I left the United Kingdom for Nigeria and on my way back during the six hours flight I took time to take some pictures with the use of my handset camera. I had the advantage of sitting alone eith the sit next to me vacant in the economy class that in which I travelled. I guessed the lady that was to share the no 62 sit with me vanished after making a phone call. I suspected she was moved to a higher class by one of the cabin crew or someone in
the best position to do so. That put me at an advantage to move freely and satisfy myself in the things that I enjoyed doing. I took the advantage of available facilities to make the journey exciting. You know what we all think in our mind each time we fly. The possibility of a plane crash mixed with the thoughts of safe landing and happy reunion with love ones.
As a Christian I always believe that such misfortune as being involved in a plane crash should not be my portion. To get reassured, a constant recertation of "the Lord is my Shepherd" Psalm 23. gives me the confidence that I am secured. I washed the film titled "Australia" and couple of others. I took some photograph of the thick clouds below seizing the advantage of sitting by the window. I always sit by the windows each time I fly. I always demand for it and I always get it if they are still available. I dedicated the vacant seat by me to the Lord and I am very sure He was there sitting with me. The flight was smooth and the Air Bus aircraft crused well. Thank God. We landed at heathtrow airport at exactly 5.00pm. It was a sunny day and it was delightful flying on the Virgin Atlanti airline. Now that I am back my blogs are coming alive again. Follow me.

HUMAN BRIDEGROOM AND ANIMAL BRIDE?

Wonders will not cease to happen in the human realm. That which is induced by nature and that which is motivated by the ignorance often demonstrated by man. The source of all these is fear that emanates out of man's ignorance and inability to come up with a logical solutions to the things that baffles the mind. Superstitions and the invocation of taboos have been the only source of explanations for most occurrences that takes place in the society especially in the primitive age. Unfortunately most of this beliefs are able to survive the many stages of human history and times because they are woven around the mysteries of the universe which are believed to be determined by spiritual forces. Even though science and acquisition of refined knowledge has improved many aspect of human perspective of viewing the universe, there are still many areas to cover and which may not be covered. However, there is a true revelation of knowledge which comes by divine imposition and demonstrated by love for mankind. This revelation is the Bible. A thorough knowledge of the bible by the nurturing of the Holy Spirit reveals the eternal truth about the universe and the position of man in relation to other creatures in it. Far before it was revealed through scientific knowledge that the earth is round, the scriptures had spelt it out in Is.40:22 that the earth is round. It is also forbidding that man must not in any way have bond with animal which includes sexual or otherwise implied. Many human community such as India through their Hindu faith still come up with many such social imposition that make mankind relegated to absurdity. Marrying a child to a dog for whatever reason is uncalled for and primitive. This part of the world is very much in need of the gospel. May the Lord stretches His mighty hand of deliverance to this domain and many other such places across the globe.

Sanrumula Munda, Sangula's father, said the ceremony would not stop him from marrying properly when he comes of age.
Superstition is still a potent force in tribal and remote communities of India.

CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE: JOE ARHAVBARIEN

World events in past two weeks have demonstrated the fragile nature of our world in these times. The level and scale of natural disasters, either freely occurring or fanned by human activities gives cause to worry, though in the light of the bible end-time prophecies, these incidences i.e. massive wild fires in Australia, cold and freezing extreme temperatures battering Europe, Collusion of Russian and US satellites in space (first of its kind!) with the risk of further polluting our air space and the monster of global economic recession sure portends to us a bleak future for the only known planet in the galaxy that can support life.

Like in a sweep stake activity, odds of survival in these times sure tends to zero, however, I have strong faith in God for everyone who will not look at the present distresses.

In his book titled – “Facing the Fearful Odds”, Gregory Urwin described how ill-equipped volunteers and handful marines during the depression of the 1940s, at a time when the Americans were at the mercy of the powerful Japanese army, a few gritty Marines and civilian construction workers - every one of them a regular "Joe Everyman" with whom any American could identify - held off the mighty Japanese navy and air force for more than two weeks and dealt them a stunning, crushing blow.

You might see yourself today, as a regular “Joe Everyman”, but with Christ in you, you have the heart of David, to bring down the Goliaths facing you.

The bible is replete with men and women, who face odds, had zero survival chance, Jabez was doomed because of a jinxed name, Joseph, was caged with his dreams, Daniel and his three friends demonstrated great faith in exile, Deborah(Judge 4:8-9) showed that God is able to use a woman to save a nation. They did not remain in bonds forever, God gave them all victory. Yours is sure to come in Jesus’ matchless name!

I believe what the Lord is telling us at times like this, is that no matter what the situation is, He is still God, if He has to make the sun over our lives to standstill a whole day like in Joshua10:12; or to a believer in Christ whom all seems lost - may be health is on decline and you feel you still have more to accomplish for God’s glory, the experience of Hezekiel when he requested Prophet Isaiah in 2Kings 20:5-11 is yours for the asking “ v8.... And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up unto the house of the LORD the third day? And Isaiah said, this shall be the sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps? And Hezekiah answered, it is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten steps: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten steps. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz” (Read also Isaiah 38:8)

Extraordinary times require extraordinary manifestations, I was asthmatic for many years until, I got divinely healed, and God really is able.

As you move into week no. 8, know it’s a new beginning to experience God’s power to save in the face of odds.

DO NOT DENY THE HOLOCAUST
Facts of history can not be denied. Each time such an attempt to deny the facts of history is made, prejudice is always in display and it is often obvious that mischief is also is the making. Holocaust is an historic fact and it is one of the events of history that makes humanity highly degraded and worthless. We can correct this by making sure all human race no matter what religion, colour and ideological affiliation are treated equally in all matters that need be tackled to protect human dignity. There are facts of history that we can not deny because they shine above like the sunshine that the entire location of the earth feel their impact. We can not deny that the first and the second world war was fought and that millions died. We can not deny the fact that man landed on the moon. We can not deny that millions of African descent were taken as slaves and exported to the new found world of america and the islands. We can not deny the Civil Right movement in the U.S.A that inspired the 'I have a dream speech' of Martin Luther King jr. We cannot also deny the Soweto massacre by the tyranous apartheid regime of South Africa and the imprisonment of Mandela. Most importantly we can not deny the Cruxifixion of Jesus Christ of Nazareth who according to prophecy died and rose from death the third day thereby completing the work of salvation for mankind and that we celebrate Christmas to mark the birth of the Messiah. As I can not deny that I exist as I am writing this article right now, in like manner, I can not deny the existence of God who is the author of all things. What do you know do not happen that history is trying to impose on human knowledge. Make it known but definitely not one of the above. The outrage over Bishop Richard Williamson's claim that thhe holocaust never took place should be put to rest. For whatever reason the bishop denied the holocaust, it must be personal and that is that. Will the Jews also continue to deny the resurrection of Jesus Christ and that He is the Messiah that is to come? Let them think about it.

HOLOCAUST DENIAL

VATICAN CITY – In a message aimed at easing the rancor over a bishop's denial of the Holocaust, Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday called the slaughter of 6 million Jews a crime against God, and the Vatican said he would make his first visit to Israel in May.

The pope met with about 60 American Jewish leaders on Thursday and assured them the Catholic Church was "profoundly and irrevocably committed to reject all anti-Semitism," issuing his strongest condemnation yet of Holocaust denial.

The furor blew up after Benedict lifted the excommunication of a traditionalist bishop who denied the Holocaust, sparking outrage among Jews and Catholics alike. The Vatican said Benedict did not know about the views of Bishop Richard Williamson when he agreed to lift the excommunication.

"The hatred and contempt for men, women and children that was manifested in the Shoah was a crime against God and against humanity," Benedict told thet visiting leaders, using the Hebrew term for the Holocaust. "This should be clear to everyone, especially to those standing in the tradition of the Holy Scriptures."

"It is beyond question that any denial or minimization of this terrible crime is intolerable and altogether unacceptable," he said during the meeting in the Vatican's Apostolic Palace.

Jewish leaders applauded his comments, saying the crisis with the church that had been sparked by Bishop Richard Williamson's comments was over.

The Vatican also said that the pope's visit to Israel — the second official visit by a pope _would take place in May. Its date had not previously been announced, and as the outrage over Williamson increased, some had questioned whether the trip would take place.

"We never had an issue with the pope but with the bishop who belittled the Holocaust," said Oded Weiner, director general of Israel's chief rabbinate.

He said theological talks between Israel's chief rabbinate and the Vatican, which had been suspended in the wake of the Williamson affair, are now planned for March 12.

Abraham Foxman, a Holocaust survivor and the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, said the Vatican should excommunicate Williamson again because of his remarks.

"Every moment that he stays in the church gives him credibility," he told reporters after the meeting.

"Today's statement was important but it did not bring closure," he said. "You cannot condemn Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism and reinstate somone who to this day continues to be an anti-Semite and deny the Holocaust."

In an interview with Swedish state TV broadcast Jan. 21, Williamson denied that any Jews were gassed during World War II. He said only about 200,000 to 300,000 Jews were killed, but none of them gassed.

The Vatican stressed that it did not in any way share Williamson's views. But confronted with mounting Jewish outrage, the Vatican demanded Williamson recant before he would be fully admitted as a bishop into the church.

Williamson has apologized for causing distress to the pope, but has not recanted. He said he would correct himself if he is satisfied by the evidence, but insisted in an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel that examining it "will take time."

Benedict lifted the excommunication of Williamson and three other bishops who were consecrated by the late Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre without papal consent in 1988. Lefebvre founded the traditionalist Society of St. Pius X in 1969, opposed to the liberalizing reforms of the Second Vatican Council, particularly its outreach to Jews.

Benedict's trip in May, which had been planned before the Williamson affair surfaced, would be the second official visit by a pope to Israel.

Pope John Paul II made the first official visit in 2000.

The only other visit by a pope, in 1964, reflected the strained nature of the relationship in those years. Pope Paul VI spent only part of one day in Israel, and never ventured into Jewish west Jerusalem. He never uttered the word "Israel" in public.

DUTCH MP BAN FROM ENTERING UK; KORAN THE ISSUE?

A Dutch MP who described the Koran as a "fascist book" has been banned from entering the UK amid fears his presence would endanger public security.

Freedom Party MP Geert Wilders was invited to show his controversial film - which links the Islamic holy book to terrorism - in the UK's House of Lords.

But Mr Wilders, who faces trial in his own country for inciting hatred, has been denied entry by the Home Office.

Mr Wilders said the move was "cowardly" but one peer said it was "welcome".

'Offensive'

Mr Wilders' film Fitna caused outrage across the Muslim world when it was posted on the internet last year.

Its opening scenes show a copy of the Koran followed by footage of the 9/11 attacks in the US and the bombings in Madrid in 2004 and London in 2005.

Views on the ban

The Dutch prime minister has said the film served "no purpose other than to offend".

Mr Wilders was asked to show the film at the House of Lords by UK Independence Party peer Lord Pearson.

However, he received a letter from the British Embassy in the Netherlands telling him he would not be allowed into the UK.

The Home Office said there was a blanket ban on Mr Wilders entering the UK under EU laws enabling member states to exclude someone whose presence could threaten public security.

"The government opposes extremism in all forms," it said in a statement, adding that it had tightened up rules on excluding those engaging in "unacceptable behaviour" in October.

"It will stop those who want to spread extremism, hatred, and violent messages in our communities from coming to our country."

Mr Wilders described the decision as "cowardly" and said he still intends to travel to the UK on Thursday to take part in the event.

'Very saddened'

He told the BBC: "It's incredible that an elected politician who was invited by one of your parliamentarians to a discussion with people who are against me, or in favour of me [was banned from the UK]."

Mr Wilders added: "I was surprised and very saddened that the freedom of speech that was a very strong point of UK society has been harassed. I thought Great Britain had the mother of all parliaments."

In the past, Mr Wilders has called for the Koran to be banned and compared it to Mein Kampf.

Earlier this year, a Dutch court ordered prosecutors to put Mr Wilders on trial for inciting hatred and discrimination by making anti-Islamic statements.

Labour peer Lord Ahmed, who expressed his concerns to the Parliamentary authorities about Mr Wilders' visit, said he welcomed the decision to ban the MP.

"It would be unwise to have him in the UK because this man's presence would cause hatred," he said.

"He has a case against him in the Amsterdam court for inciting hatred."

'Attacked obviously'

Lord Ahmed, who said other Muslim peers shared his concerns, stressed that Mr Wilders' views would certainly present a threat to public order.

"When Muslims are attacked obviously you will see people react to that."

But Lord Pearson said the decision to bar him was "weak and unacceptable in the extreme".

"The Home Office is guilty of appeasement on this, clearly."

The peer said the screening would still go ahead on Thursday whether Mr Wilders was present or not.

He said the parliamentary authorities were happy for the event to take place but had ordered extra security for it.

"The film does not threaten anyone," he said, adding that it simply showed how violent extremists justified their actions.

He said the screening would be followed by a debate on issues relating to the Koran, extremism and freedom of speech.

Doctors in California have been astonished by a baby boy born with 24 perfectly formed and fully functioning fingers and toes. Skip related content

Doctors at St Luke's Hospital in San Francisco say, because the extra fingers and toes are so well formed, they do not consider it a deformity or disability.

Maternity staff and the radiographer did not detect the baby's extra digits, so it came as quite a surprise to Kamani's father.

Kris Hubbard said "I was in amazement. It took a little while for me to take it all in.

"My son has six fingers, then I saw his toes and I thought 'This is quite unique'."

Polydactylism affects around 1 in 500 babies.

The extra digits are usually small pieces of soft tissue. They occasionally contain bone without joints and are rarely complete, functioning digits.

Famous polydactyls include: actress Gemma Arterton; West Indian cricketer Gary Sobers; Blues guitarist Hound Dog Taylor; and Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII.

Dr Michael Treece, a paediatrician at St Luke's Hospital, said: "It's merely an interesting and beautiful variation rather than a worrisome thing.

"Imagine what sort of pianist a 12-fingered person would be. Imagine what sort of flamenco guitarist. If else, think of their typing skills."

The parents have not decided whether to have the extra fingers and toes removed, but doctors say the baby should keep them.

By the time I started to put together this write up, my heart was very heavy and because a desire was burning in my heart to make the entire world population know what the Lord Jesus said about this generation.
Do you notice how I have chosen to spell the word ‘Sceptics’ in the title of this write up, yes, I decided to spell the word in the archaic manner because what I am about to say is regarded as archaic by many and not fitting into the present day perspective of the world in general.
You might say the old time religion but I say no, it is the eternal truth which is the narrow way constructed for you and I to travel on our pilgrim journey and any other way is towards destruction.
I just received an email message from a friend who I mailed a message from my blog in which I tried to relate what is happening to the world economy as one of the signs of the end time.
In his reply, he felt I am probably becoming a dooms day prophet and he assured me things are going to be better for the world in general and that the world will continue to prosper to eternity.
He is my very good friend with whom I have done many things together with. We have both experienced the good and the bad together but while I am seeing things from the biblical point of view, he prefers to see things from the other perspectives believing we should not take the bible too serious and yet he goes to church.
I know there are many people like that out there and it makes me sad when I come across people like this because they make it appear as if to tell people about the word of God as written in the scriptures is an uphill task. Though it is not for us to take care of the inside but the Holy Spirit, may God continue to strengthen our faith to continue to tell the story of life to people so that we do not lament like Jeremiah did in Lamentation.
When we look at what is happening to the world economy, as redeemed of the Lord who pray and watch, it is obvious that we are experiencing the end time signs that must precede the great tribulation. “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”Lk.21:36
We woke up suddenly and here we are, banks are going bankrupt, houses being repossessed, thousand s are losing their jobs, businesses closing down and there is fear everywhere in the heart beat of most men and women upon the surface of the earth if these diverse misfortunes would soon knock on their doors.
The question that is being asked is, ‘how long will this last?’ Some say it is the beginning of another world economic recession that will take time to solve, some say we might not totally get out of it for a long time.
About a week ago in the United States a man who lost his job killed his wife, his five beautiful children and finally himself leaving a suicide note that there was no need to keep his children alive and to the care of others hence he decided with his wife to include the children in the list of termination.
This man like millions in the world today have the worldly material possession as the source of their joy while for us who are redeemed of the Lord have the joy of the Lord as our strength that even if we lose the entire world we are rest assured in the Lord for the return of our captivity.
“Man's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”Lk.21:26
To the redeemed of the Lord, let us the prudent in all our financial budgeting and avoid spending on things that we don’t actually need. We should avoid one of the fruits of the flesh which is emulation and envy which may lead us to wanting to do what we see others do. And in every thing as the scriptures say, we should with praises and thanksgiving make our needs known to the Lord.

And he led them forth by the right way that he might go to a city of habitation.”Ps.107:5-7

THE 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Today the world watches Senator Barack Obama sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America. There is no doubt about it that a greater number of the Americans are so excited about seeing the supposed change that dominated the political atmosphere for the last one year being inaugurated in the person of Obama. However apart from seeing the first African American elected as the President of the United State of America which is enough as a sign that Americans are serious about wanting change, there is no evidence yet that the election of Obama to the White House will bring about peace in the Middle East in particular and the world in general. There is still much to be accomplished in the economic sector before we can begin to see changes that is really worth calling change. The election of Obama to the white house generates much excitement across the globe and it has been a great source of entertainment too. Obama's speech as usual is admirable expecially his mastery of the language with which he communicates and his ability to speak it fluently as he conveys his message. A charismatic Leader and a lovely father and husband Obama is a role model across the globe. His story is a glaring example of how God intervenes in a unique way to solve human social problems and enthrone a personality that will bring about the fulfilment of the aspiration of a people that seek fot justice and social justice. Right now there is hope in the mail box of every American. Let us wish them well. Meanwhile the Obama official limousine is christened 'The Beast' If Obama had been elected in a European country I would have warned that we should beware of him being the biblical beast but he is not so no panic. However I believe Obama stands for a new era not only in American politics but also the world. Events will unfold this. Man refuses to drive 'No God' bus

A Christian bus driver has refused to drive a bus with an atheist slogan proclaiming "There's probably no God".

Ron Heather, from Southampton, Hampshire, responded with "shock" and "horror" at the message and walked out of his shift on Saturday in protest.

First Bus said it would do everything in its power to ensure Mr Heather does not have to drive the buses.

Buses across Britain started displaying atheist messages in an advertising campaign launched earlier this month.

Mr Heather told BBC Radio Solent: "I was just about to board and there it was staring me in the face, my first reaction was shock horror.

"I felt that I could not drive that bus, I told my managers and they said they haven't got another one and I thought I better go home, so I did.
Mr Heather said he was shocked at the "starkness" of the advert

"I think it was the starkness of this advert which implied there was no God."

When he returned to work on Monday he was called into a meeting with managers and agreed to go back to work with the promise he would only have to drive the buses if there were no others available.

First Bus said in a statement: "As a company we understand Mr Heather's views regarding the atheist bus advert and we are doing what we can to accommodate his request not to drive the buses concerned."

It added: "As an organisation we don't endorse any of the products or sentiments advertised on our buses.

"The content of this advert has been approved by the Advertising Standards Agency and therefore it is capable of being posted on static sites or anywhere else."

The advertising campaign is backed by the British Humanist Association and prominent atheist, Professor Richard Dawkins.

Hanne Stinson, chief executive of the British Humanist Association, said: "I have difficulty understanding why people with particular religious beliefs find the expression of a different sort of beliefs to be offensive.

"I can't understand why some people seem to have a different attitude when it comes to atheists."

Pressure group Christian Voice has questioned the campaign's effectiveness but the Methodist Church said it would be a "good thing if it gets people to engage with the deepest questions of life" and suggested it showed there was a "continued interest in God".

The advertisements run on 200 bendy buses in London and 600 vehicles in England, Scotland and Wales.

WILL THERE BE PEACE?

Gaza is burning and the entire world is in focus but then there still is no solution to the problem. Over three thousand years ago the same people that are setting fire on Gaza and at the same time sending rockets to blast Israel are the same people who are today setting the area ablaze, Israel and the Palestinians. In this same area the popular King of Israel. the young shepherd boy David brought down Goliath the Philistine hero who for forty days held Israel to ransome and insalted the God of Israel. Today, the young men of Palestine are still throwing stones against the Israeli army as if saying, if David killed our ancestor Goliath with stone, then it is time to kill your heroes with stones.
Unfortunately, a more sophisticated weapon of war is now being used in the acts of warfare. Do not let us underrate the power of stones as a weapon and the miracle that could accompany it. Though if it is all about throwing stones it would have been better but the devastating instruments of war in use are making the entire war jittery and yet nobody can stop the carnage permanently.
There is protest match now across the globe against Israel continuous bombing of Gaza and the death roll going higher. Women and children and the civilian population baring the blunt of the fatal condition of war. As the question is being asked, "who can stop it" The answer is nobody. Not even reasoning or human compasion. The area is a battle invested domain and it will continue to burn until there is divine intervention. Not even Obama who many are calling upon to speak out against the carnage. What bush could not accomplish in Gaza not even a thousand Obama can. No matter how many mouths yell the slogan "Yes we can" the carnage in the Middle East and every other volatile domain of the world will continue. The bible specifically states clearly; "For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape."1Th,5:3. Human dipomatic moves will not work because each time we sit around the table to negotiate for peace it is always with deceit and hidden bitterness at the back of our mind. This is what we call dipomacy.
Israel is an instrument in the hand of God and the earlier the Arab nations face the fact that Israel has come to be a Nation and nothing can change this. Israel also should know for sure that even though they are once more a nation, it is not for their sake but to prepare the the domain for the second coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ who they crucified that the purpose of the redemption programme of God be brought to fulfilment. They are only playing their historic role as the pen and paper with which God sends His message and revelation of His divine programme to the entire world.
The only hope that man has for peace is to look forward to the arrival of the Prince of Peace whose government shall destroy all instruments of war and reshape the heart of men from violence to a peaceful one thereby bringing the kingdom of God to manifestation.
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
And many people shall say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountains of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us his ways, and will walk in his path: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spares into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation,neither shall they learn war any more."Is.2:2-4

WORD OF EXHORTATION FOR 2009

It is a New Year and there is need for us to reflect on the year which we have have just put behind us and count our blessings and losses. For every gains and benefits to God be the glory and to all that we count as losses, we need to think over them and take a deep search because there are hidden blessings in them for us with which we can explore for the abundant blessings and benefits that await us in the New Year.

"Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request s be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."Ph.4:6-7
